Week 15 WR Plays

The Daily Fantasy Minute: Where DFS advice is always free!

There are enough value plays at the RB position to allow you to take your shots at big time WR's this week.  Since DraftKings is a full point PPR scoring league, I like to go heavy at WR when the timing is right.

I try to limit the quantity of top tier WR's to write about any given week because they are the easier ones to select.  This week is a little different, I am going to hi-light several top tier WR's for you to choose from then hit on some value WR's in the event you want to go big at RB or QB.

Sorted by price:

1.  Julio Jones ($8500)
Atlanta 47
Jacksonville -3.5
Matt Ryan is playing his worst football since he came into the league.  He has a very limited supply of quality pass catchers forcing him to throw the ball into spaces he normally wouldn't.  Julio Jones is one of the best WR's in the NFL and Matt Ryan/coaching staff are well aware of the situation.  Jones leads the league in both yardage and targets but has only been able to find the end zone six times.  Over the last two weeks, the Jaguars have given up big days to both TY Hilton (4/132/0) and Dorial Green-Beckham (5/119/1).  The Jaguars are playing pretty well offensively putting their team in higher scoring games.  The Falcons are sputtering right now but this is the kind of game that can help a struggling offense get back on track.  Julio Jones is a solid play this week though I would not roll the dice with Matt Ryan.  Due to the risk of the Falcons playing another stinker performance, Jones may be a better GPP play than a cash game play.

2.  DeAndre Hopkins ($8500)
Houston
@ Indianapolis (Off)
Vegas doesn't currently have this game on the board due to the uncertainty of the QB play in Indianaplois.  Hopkins is second in the NFL with 159 targets.  He has been able to turn those targets into over 1,200 yards and 10 tough downs.  The Colts were able to hold Allen Robinson in check in Week 14 but in turn, Allen Hurns got loose for 105 yards and a TD.  The week before, Antonio Brown turned in a nice day compiling 8/118/2.  Just two weeks before that, Julio Jones dominated the Colts adding 9/160/0 to his already gaudy numbers.  The Colts are susceptible in all areas on defense.  Vontae Davis is just one man who tends to play one side of the field as opposed to roaming like some of the other top corner backs.  Hopkins is a premier play maker in the NFL and now has a couple other pass catchers helping out.  Nate Washington and Cecil Shorts are doing just enough to give Hopkins some more green space.  Neither are dynamic play makers but they don't have to be.  Their role is to keep the opposing defense honest.  Hopkins has big time blow up potential this week but as with any WR, their floor can be limited.

3.  Calvin Johnson ($6900)
Detroit 50
New Orleans -2.5
This game is the 2dd highest total on the board this week.  The Saints do not have a soul that has the ability to cover Calvin Johnson.  His massive size (6'5" 235 lb)  makes it very difficult to defend him.  The Saints biggest corner is Brandon Browner who is 6'4".  He has had an absolutely awful season. The Saints will be forced to put an undersized CB on Johnson or have Browner cover him with help from the safety.  Either way, Calvin should be in for a high volume, high productive day against the Saints.  Johnson has had back to back lack luster games but prior to that was able to have a monster 3 TD game against the Eagles on Thanksgiving.  It is hard to keep a player like Johnson out of the end zone for too long, Johnson is set to have a very nice day rewarding his faithful owners.

4.  Randall Cobb ($6300)
Green Bay -2.5
@ Oakland 45.5
There is one thing for certain, Mike McCarthy made it a point to get Cobb the football in his first game back calling offensive plays for the Packers.  Cobb reeled in eight catches and 81 yards on 12 targets this past weekend.  He had not seen double digit targets in the three weeks prior to Week 14.  The Raiders have given up back to back 95 yard days to both DeMaryius Thomas and Jeremy Maclin (also 2 TD's).  The Raiders pass defense is a major weakness of this team.  Kahlil Mack is growing up as a pass rusher before our very eyes.  He recently set a team high of five sacks against Brock Osweiler in Week 14.  The Packers will need to find a way to slow Mack down and that usually comes in the form of quick passes to play makers.  Randall Cobb fits the bill.  Cobb is a reliable slot receiver making him a prime target for Rodgers to dump the ball off quickly.  As they buy Rodgers a little more time, Cobb could be in for a very strong day in PPR formats making him a tremendous DraftKings selection.  Cobb has the ability to break open long plays coupled with what should be a high volume workload making him a perfect selection for all DFS formats.

5.  Doug Baldwin ($5800)
Cleveland 43
@ Seattle -14
Until a team slows Baldwin down, it is hard not to recommend him.  The Browns just lost Joe Haden to season ending injury sending him to the IR this week.  The Browns can ill afford any losses on the either side of the ball.  While Haden was not having his best season as a pro, he was still one of the stronger defensive players on the lousy Browns squad.  Russell Wilson is as hot as any player in the NFL and Baldwin continues to find himself wide open for long plays.  Baldwin has 8 TD's over his last three games and is averaging 107 YPG in that same stretch.  The Browns are down right terrible right now.  The Browns have struggled mightely against top pass catchers in the NFL over the last several weeks.
Week Rec Yards TD
AJ Green  13 5 128 1
Antonio Brown 10 10 139 2
Martavius Bryant 10 6 178 1
Michael Floyd 8 4 106 1

Russell Wilson is my top rated QB in Week 15 and Doug Baldwin makes my list once again.  His price is very attractive and will likely be very highly owned.  His performances over the last three weeks coincide with the loss of Jimmy Graham who is out for the season.  I fully anticipate Doug Baldwin to have another very solid day.  While I would not project another 3 TD day, 100+ yards and one TD is never out of the question.  The Seahawks have been up big in games and have continued to pour on the offense.  With the loss of Thomas Rawls, Seattle may look to milk the clock in other ways this week against the Browns.

6.  Michael Floyd ($4400)
Arizona -3.5
Philadelphia 50.5
In the weeks where Floyd has been healthy, he has been a true WR1.  Floyd is healthy this week and now gets a terrible Eagles defense.  The Cardinals have a whole host of top quality WR's yet Floyd continues to dominate the targets over the last two weeks.  Carson Palmer is having an MVP caliber season pulling all of his pass catchers with him along the way.  The Eagles really haven't slowed any WR down in recent weeks.  This game is highest total on the board in Vegas.  The Cardinals are one of the more complete teams in the NFL.  I fully anticipate Floyd to have another stellar performance and is a relatively safe selection for all DFS formats.
