Week 15 Top Stacks

The Daily Fantasy Minute: Where your DFS advice is always free!

A common question I receive are what are the top stacks for any given week?

What?
For the beginners out there, a stack is simply combining more than one player from a single team.

Why?
Stacks are a good strategy in GPP Contests.  The theory is, to win money in a GPP, you have to select
a top scoring quarterback for that week.  Traditionally, with a hot quarterback, you will have a RB/WR/TE that benefits more than others for that week.

Let's take a look at Week 14 for an example.
Russell Wilson 32.3 DK points
Doug Baldwin 32.2 DK points

If you would have "stacked" Wilson with Baldwin you would have had an amazing 64.5 points from two players.

Of course, figuring out the correct stack is not the easiest thing to do but given some data points and some exploitable match ups, we can at least make an educated guess.

How?

1.  Carson Palmer ($7000)/Michael Floyd ($4400)

Arizona-3.5
Philadelphia 50.5
One of the things I like about this stack is what is cost you.  For a combined total of $11,400 (22.8% of your DraftKings budget) you may very well have the highest scoring stacks for Week 15.  Vegas has this game as the highest total on the board at 50.5.  Palmer and Floyd have been on the same page  where Floyd has combined for 21 targets over the last two weeks.  He has turned those targets into 206 yards in the same two games adding a TD to help the cause.  As the Eagles defense continues to give up points to any child willing to ask, Palmer and Floyd could be the stack to help win your GPP contests.

2.  Aaron Rodgers ($7400)/Randall Cobb ($6300)

Green Bay -2.5
Oakland 45.5
The Raiders defense is the 5th worst pass defense in terms of yardage averaging 276 YPG given up.  Once Mike McCarthy took over the play calling, it was clear he made it a point to get Randall Cobb the football.  He was targeted 12 times this past week where he had not received double digit targets the two weeks prior.  It takes a hot quarterback for a stack to be effective and Aaron Rodgers is exactly the kind of player to get on a streak needed to pull this feat off.  You can stack Rodgers/Cobb for $13,700 or 27.4% of your DraftKings budget.

3.  Matthew Stafford ($6100)/Calvin Johnson ($6900)

Detroit 50
New Orleans 50.5
Vegas has this second highest total for the week.  Stafford has no problem looking to his massive wide out as we witnessed him grab three TD's back on Thanksgiving against the previously mentioned Eagles.  If Brandon Browner is ever matched up with Johnson, Stafford will take advantage.  The Saints DB's are record breakingly bad and the talent of Stafford/Johnson could easily be the duo to stack up 50+ points for Week 15.   This stack will cost you $13,000 or 26% of your DraftKings budget.

Budget Stack

4.  Blake Bortles ($6100)/Allen Hurns ($5600)

Atlanta 47
Jacksonville -3.5
Desmond Trufant is having a Pro Bowl type career in the Atlanta secondary.  If he spends the day shadowing Allen Robinson, Hurns could be in for a very nice day.  Hurns benefits from the coverage Robinson receives but his talents are not too far off of Robinson.  Hurns has four 100+ yard games this year coupled with eight TD's.  The Falcons have placed starting SS William Moore on the IR, ending his season early once again.  William Moore plays a very physical game at the safety position.  His impact on the game may be huge as the Falcons will now use Kemal Ishmael and career journeyman Ricardo Allen as their top two safeties.
Allen Hurns has blow up potential and the Atlanta defense could be just what Bortles/Hurns need for another big time day.  The Bortles/Hurns stack will cost you $11,700 or just 23.4% of your DraftKings budget.
